Morris South Introduces New Machine Tools and Displays Race Car at SOUTH-TEC - Booth #106

September 6, 2011 - Morris South of Charlotte, North Carolina and Huntsville, Alabama will exhibit several new machine tools from OkumaBridgeport and Tsugami in Booth 106 at SOUTH-TEC, October 11-13 at the Charlotte Convention Center. Front and center in the booth will be Kevin Harvick’s car #29 from Richard Childress Racing. Okuma America Corporation is the official machine tool sponsor of Richard Childress Racing.

We are looking forward to SOUTH-TEC,” stated Jerry Rex, president of Morris South.  “It’s a great venue to display our key builders’ newest products, with strong attendance expected. We’re planning live cutting demonstrations on new vertical, horizontal, multifunction and Swiss machines to give customers a fully rounded experience in our booth.”

“Securing the race car for display is a fun side benefit of our relationship with Okuma America Corporation,” adds Mr. Rex.  “Customers enjoy learning about the role that Okuma technology plays in keeping RCR a winning team.”

In addition to new machine sales, Morris South provides tooling and accessories, application engineering and service support to manufacturers of precision machined parts from all industry sectors.  A new line of tooling for Okuma lathes will be introduced at Morris South’s booth: Velocity Products is a new company launched by Morris South’s parent company, Morris Group, Inc.

The following machine tools are slated to be exhibited at SOUTH-TEC.

New!Okuma MB-4000H
High Speed Horizontal Machining Center

New Product Introduction

The MB-H series machines deliver speed and power in a small footprint. Highly productive with a high speed 15,000 RPM spindle and reduced non-cutting time, the MB-H series is built on the Okuma Thermo-Friendly Concept enabling the machine to predict and counter thermal deformation for improved accuracy.

Okuma Millac 33TU
5-axis Vertical Multitasking Machine

The Millac 33TU features a direct drive 2-axis NC rotary table.  High powered and high torqued, it is ideal for radial and angular applications.  Its compact design is extremely rigid; box ways for all axes reduce cutting vibrations and deliver high accuracy, stable machining of thin to odd-shaped workpieces.

Okuma Multus B200
Multitasking Machine

The Okuma Multus B200 reduces set up time by virtually eliminating repetitive fixturing to improve accuracy and keep non-cutting time to a minimum. Collision Avoidance System software combined with Okuma’s THINC-OSP Control can run the entire machining simulation and detect potential collisions before they occur. Thermal-Friendly Construction assures high accuracy, even in the most complex applications.

NewBridgeport GX1000-OSP

Vertical Machining Center with Okuma OSP Control

The new GX1000-OSP Vertical Machining Center is unique in the Bridgeport family of mills as it incorporates the Okuma OSP 200 control, encoders, motors and drives to provide more performance capabilities. The GX Series features a stiff and thermally stable spindle, rigid C-frame fixed column design, and fixed pre-tensioned double nut ball screws on all axes.

New!  Tsugami SS26

Chucker Convertible 26mm Super Swiss Turn

The SS platform from Tsugami is a flexible, high quality design. Configure the tool zone in minutes. SS Series machines feature live face and cross tools for the main and subspindle. A dual path Fanuc 31i-A CNC slashes cycle time by allowing true simultaneous operation of the main and sub spindle.

The SS26 26mm Super Swiss Turn can be converted from Swiss to conventional turning quickly and easily with an optional chucker kit.  See the SS26 machine a complex demo part with deep cuts, high accuracy, and extreme precision in minutes!
